Mission Statement
The mission of Sacred Heart Catholic School is to assist parents in educating their children toward arriving at the fullness of Christian life. In order to achieve this purpose, Catholic doctrine is taught, Christian values are interwoven in the teaching of basic skills needed for participation in society, and nothing is taught which is contradictory to the official teaching of the Roman Catholic Church.
The school recognizes the rights of individuals as children of God deserving honor and respect. Thus, the needs and abilities of the students shall be given high priority in the development of the school program.
Statement of Philosophy
The purpose of Sacred Heart Catholic School is to foster a deeper commitment to the personal moral development, spiritual growth, and social consciousness in its students. The school educates children in the various academic disciplines required for a productive life, while it guides them in transforming the Good News of the Gospel into action. Moreover, Sacred Heart exists to impart a sense of love and service in students leading to spiritual growth, so that they will uphold the dignity of human life and actively espouse justice in the Catholic community and the world.
Goals
The broad goal of Sacred Heart Catholic School is to teach the Gospel message while building a Christian community dedicated to service.
Specific Christian goals include the creation of a Christian community where human knowledge, enlightened and enlivened by faith, is shared by teachers, students, and parents in a spirit of freedom and love; the development of Christian understanding and various opportunities for personal commitment to religious values; the predisposition of students to have charity for one another.
In addition, our educational goals are to help each student develop a positive attitude toward life-long education including the power to think constructively, to solve problems, and reason independently; to provide an environment which enhances the students opportunity to learn; to guide the students toward a spirit of true freedom which recognizes discipline
and personal responsibility; to provide quality education for all children who might want to take advantage of our educational program; and to play a significant role in raising national levels of knowledge, competence, and experience.
Non-Discrimination Policy
Sacred Heart Catholic School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, handicap, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies or programs, admission policies, scholarship or loan programs, athletic or other school administered programs.
Objectives
Our objectives are to work closely with the home in educating children toward the fullness of Christian life; to specifically teach Catholic principles and Christian values; to offer personal experiences in Christian living through liturgy, sacramental life, prayer, guidance, and example; to instruct the child in human knowledge and skills which enable the students to actively participate in the Christian community and human society; to recognize the dignity of all persons; to encourage service to the wider community by providing opportunities to serve; and to encourage teachers to become committed Christians and develop professional competence.
